Saracen was built in 1960 and purchased by Ken Jacob and John Skellorn and she was kept in the Canal Basin at Gravesend. She was sold in 1970 to Ken Barratt, commodore of the Upnor Sailing Club. From the "Blue Book" there were a further four owners until I bought her in 1996 from a Cornish owner.
She was in a bit of a tired state and the first couple of years was spent on overhaul/restoration: new decks, engine, rigging, wiring and plumbing etc. We kept her here in Dartmouth until 2009 when we took her to Brittany in search of new cruising grounds. Last spring we trucked her from L'Aberwrach to La rochelle in search of better weather and this year will sail her back up the coast to Brittany and back to Dartmouth.
